Investigating Film Production

Film production is a key aesthetic to all films, as this is what you actually see. The amount of effort put into filming specific scenes can be very hard work. Especially depending on specific scenes as one whole scene can make a difference.

Scene Analysis

Aesthetic: The aesthetics on this opening scene is that this scene is meant to be a memory of the main character reminiscing what happened in the past, giving it an old aesthetic so you know it's a memory. The aesthetic is more urban too from where they are living.

Space and Composition: The composition is usually with all of them in the frame, then getting smaller when they lose more people along the way. Other compositions include and spacings are included when different frames are added. Especially the opening scene of them walking into the pub going to grab the 5 drinks in front of them.

Acting: The characters act like they are teenagers going on a night out. Through majority of it all they act drunk, stumbling, falling over, acting lost.

Editing: They have edited the opening scene to make it look older, with the effect of making this scene have a light rolling through it, giving the opening scene an old feeling. Like on an old filming reel with the viewing of it rolling through.

Narrative: The narrative of this opening scene is to set the mood for the whole film and it does that very well. Showing you what happened previously and what the film will most likely be about, as you can see that the main character is reminiscing about the past meaning it was a good moment and he misses moments like that.

Representation: The representation behind this opening scene is to show what this film could be about, it also introduces you to all the characters to show you who they are and what they mean to the main character, then it ends all happy showing that this memory is something he wants to recreate.

Scene Analysis 2

Aesthetic: The aesthetic of this opening scene at the beginning it seems to be like the world has gone to the ground but, technology has improved and survived. It gives of a rustic aesthetcic as everything seems to be destroyed and old. The technology that they have shows you that they have advanced enough to avoid the world that they live in.

Space and Composition: The space of the recording is very good with the camera floating by the main character as he heads into his home. The camera seems to move smoothly as it goes forward following the main character and going towards the game world.

Acting: The acting was just the main character walking around where he lives. He then starts to talk to other people within the setting. The opening scene mainly focuses on the main character.

Editing: Majority of this scene would've been edited in, with the background and many of the other items within the background of the film. When the main character goes into the Oasis the whole world in the virtual reality would be edited in, or animated.

Narrative: The narrative of this opening scene is to show you the world they live in and that's why they now all live in a virtual reality as it's better than the world that they live in.

Representation: The representation of this opening scene is to show the audience what the film will mainly be about, when you can see how bad the real world is and that everybody around the main character is in this virtual reality world shows you that the film will be based on this virtual reality world.

In & Out Sequence

The location I used to make my in and out sequence was my bedroom. I put my LED lights on to give the footage a different effect. I then went around my room filming 10 second clips. I tried different areas but found the places I used were the better clips. I then put these clips onto Premiere Pro and loaded them up next to each other, I tried to rearrange the videos so they could load up one after another. I then added an effect to make the transitions smooth. I then added a song that I edited and put that over the video. Then I added an effect to end the music smoothly too.
